A good, pleasant feeling is like a thumbs up from your body to your brain. It basically tells you to keep going AND keep thinking like that.
However, a bad, painful, or unpleasant feeling can be a (warning) signal from your body to ...
- Get your hand off that hot stove immediately!!
- Meditate a few times per day to calm down your personal mind
- Drink more water
- Eat less sugar and less carbs
- Make sure you have a healthy microbiome
- Eat more vegetables, healthy omega 3 fats, and proteins
- Have enough sleep, have a downtime ritual, and go to bed around the same time
- Take a magnesium supplement before bed
- Have enough sun exposure on your skin, and light in your eyes early in the morning to strengthen your circadian rhythm
- Move your body enough, get yourself a standing desk or walking desk
- Meet up with friends, hug
- Leave unhealthy relationships and heal other relationships
- Remove toxins in your environment, plastic in the oceans (ok, this one is a bit difficult)
- Etc. etc.
Learning how to live happily inside our bodies and brains doesn't always come easy (ask any teenager, or ask me), but actually, just like any other biological process, it happens automatically. It's not a general rule, but oftentimes the older people get, the more they learn about themselves, and the happier they feel. However, having an awareness (understanding) of this automatic learning process can make the learning process go even smoother and more enjoyable.
Just remember that a "bad" feeling is actually a good feeling. So, next time you feel "bad", be grateful for that "bad" feeling. It's a signal. It's helpful. Your body loves itself and it wants you to have a great experience inside that body. Just learn to interpret the signals correctly. Keep experimenting with new thoughts and new actions and strategies and see if it makes you feel any better. It happens automatically anyways, so you can enjoy it from a little distance.
From that space of you, me, we, spirit, stillness, source, oneness...
